What are your pipes made out of?
Our pipes are made from high grade aluminum, which is then finished and anodized, creating a hard layer that does not off-gas toxic fumes and cannot scorch from a lighter. It's pretty amazing stuff!

What's the idea behind the shape?
When we set out to create the world's ultimate pipe, we reinvented almost the whole damn thing. We wanted to make sure it was easy to clean, so it had to break in half. We wanted it to look cool, so we came up with a symmetrical shape that looks interesting. And we have OCD so all the lines had to line up, which is why the bowl is square, and the labyrinth is square. The mouthpiece is square too, but the real goal of that part of the design is to create a unique experience where you're kissing the pipe, instead of making out with it. Bonus: makes sharing germ free!
Is the "labyrinth" just a gimmick?
Nope, it really works! Instead of the hit going straight into your mouth it is buffered and softened by the hard right angles of the labyrinth, and the metal (which is highly conductive) pulls off all the heat so by the time it reaches your mouth it is completely cooled. It's still smoke, mind, so if you cough that's on you.
Do your fingers get hot?
Nope! The labyrinth pulls off the heat but miraculously none of that heat reaches your fingers. The Tempest is always cool on the outside.
Do I have to use the filter?
Absolutely not. The filter is designed primarily for powders and extracts like wax or resin. It also works well to keep plant matter and ash particles from getting in your mouth, but if you like to pack a large bowl you don't need to worry about this anyway. Also, bonus, after you've seasoned your pipe for a while, the sticky pathway acts as a natural filter.
NOTE: If you notice the pipe feels clogged don't sweat it, that's the filter. The titanium will last you forever but it does need to be cleaned. Just drop it in a thimbleful of isopropyl alcohol and the gunk will come right off. Plus, we give you four filters with the Tempest Field Kit so you can leapfrog them between cleanings.
How much product fits in the bowl?
Depends on the type of product you're consuming, but we have measured the bowl to fit about 1/3 gram of freshly ground herb.
How do I clean it?
We aren't lying when we say the pipe is easy to clean. Use any brush with medium-sized bristles and scrub it with some isopropyl alcohol, and it cleans right up. Soak it in alcohol for a few minutes to make it go even faster.
The brush that comes in the Tempest Field Kit is the perfect size for the labyrinth. It also includes a bowl clearing pick which makes session maintenance a snap.
DO NOT put in the dishwasher, however. The harsh cleaning chemicals can cause a chemical reaction to the anodized surface and remove the nice finish. If this does happen, have no fear, your newly 'stylized' pipe is still safe to smoke out of ;)
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR TEMPEST DRY PIPE
Is it safe to smoke out of anodized aluminum?
Yes. Anodized aluminum is non-toxic and safe to smoke from. The anodizing process creates a durable, inert surface that won't release harmful fumes. While harsh cleaning methods like dishwashers can damage the cosmetic finish, this does not affect the safety or functionality of the pipe.
